The ‘Film and Architecture’ event attracted dozens of visitors to FA BUT
At the end of September and beginning of October, FA BUT took part in the Film
and Architecture Festival, which brings together the worlds of film and
architecture. Two film screenings took place at the faculty, whilst the rest of
the programme was held at the Brno University of Technology Tržnice Centre.
Over 40 visitors watched the documentary Prickly Mountain
and My Design/Build Life at FA BUT. Directed by Allie Rood, the film tells the story of a group of
architects inspired by the legacy of the Bauhaus and the development of the
Design/Build approach.
The festival programme continued with a screening of the
documentary Empathy for Concrete by director Gregory Gan, which focuses on
the environment of prefabricated housing estates and their social and cultural
contexts. The evening also featured a discussion with the director.
The screening at the BUT Tržnice Centre also attracted
considerable interest, with 35 members of the public in attendance. The
festival thus confirmed that architecture can engage the public not only
through buildings, but also through cinematic storytelling.
