The publications SAKRAL and UN(DER)COVER were featured at the Frankfurt Book Fair
Two publications linked to the Faculty of Architecture – SAKRAL by architect Marek Jan Štěpán and UN(DER)COVER by a collective of
authors – were presented this year at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world’s
largest book fair. Both books formed part of the VUTIUM Publishing House’s
presentation at the Czech national stand.

The publication SAKRAL (1991–2021) showcases thirty years
of sacred architecture by Marek Jan Štěpán, an architect and lecturer at FA BUT. The book
documents twelve completed buildings and renovations, supplemented by the
architect’s sketches, unrealised projects and reflections on the significance of
sacred architecture in contemporary society.
The second title on display was the publication
UN(DER)COVER: A Glimpse into Brno’s Culture, which originated at FA BUT, as the outcome of student research
focusing on Brno’s independent cultural scene. Through interviews, mapping and
field research, it captures the places, communities and stories that
collectively shape the city’s cultural identity.
The inclusion of both books in VUTIUM Publishing House’s presentation at the Frankfurt Book Fair provides an opportunity to showcase the work of authors associated with the Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology to an international audience and to raise the profile of the faculty’s publishing activities abroad.
