FA BUT has a new Dean. Jiří Palacký will lead the Faculty
From 1 September 2026, doc. Ing. arch. Jiří Palacký, Ph.D.,
has become Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at BUT. He was appointed to the
post by the Rector of BUT, doc. Ing. Ladislav Janíček, Ph.D., MBA, LL.M.,
following a recommendation from the Academic Senate of the Faculty of
Architecture at BUT. The new Dean’s four-year term of office will run until 31
August 2030.

Jiří Palacký received his letter of appointment from the
Rector of BUT in accordance with the Higher Education Act. He succeeded doc.
Ing. arch. Radek Suchánek, Ph.D., as head of the faculty.
Upon taking up his post, he thanked the faculty’s previous
leadership for their many years of service, in particular Dean Radek Suchánek
and Vice-Deans Radek Toman, Jan Kratochvíl and Jan Malý Blažek.
“I appreciate what they have done for the faculty, and their
contribution remains evident even after the end of their terms of office,” said
Jiří Palacký. He also emphasised that the faculty’s operations are continuing
smoothly and that the handover of individual responsibilities is taking place
in the usual manner in cooperation with the outgoing vice-deans.
The new Dean also submitted a proposal to the Academic
Senate of the Faculty of Architecture, Brno University of Technology, for the
appointment of new Vice-Deans. He proposes Mgr. Michal Konečný, Ph.D., for the
position of Vice-Dean for Studies in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree
programmes. Doc. Zdeňka Němcová Zedníčková, Ph.D., has been nominated for the
area of external and international relations, and Ing. arch. Lenka Štěpánková,
Ph.D., for the area of doctoral studies and creative activities. The proposal
will now be discussed by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Architecture,
Brno University of Technology.
