My Modernism - Opening of the exhibition of photographs of Kaunas architecture

We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition of photographs of Kaunas architecture, which will take place on 4 October at 16:00 with the participation of a delegation from Kaunas and the Ambassador of Lithuania. The exhibition will officially run from October 7 to November 8, 2024.
During the interwar period, when national borders were changing very fast, Kaunas became the epicentre of significant events in Lithuanian and European history. The legacy of this period is the more than 6,000 buildings built in the spirit of modernism that have survived to this day. The modern architecture of Kaunas has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The exhibition presents photographs by Martynas Plepys that were selected specifically for the application for the nomination of Kaunas Modern Architecture as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and which illustrate the contemporary photographer's relationship with his hometown.
The city's unique modern architecture created a modern European capital in difficult times and today is an exceptional legacy that has witnessed a golden age, showcasing Kaunas as an innovative and progressive city that continues to evolve and enchant its residents and visitors. While you are in Kaunas, be sure to take the special routes to not only see but also experience this "Kaunas" city.
This event is produced in collaboration with the Statutory City of Brno and the City of Kaunas.
