Exhibition Dreams of Poverty

Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology invites you to an exhibition of works of students of the Mléčka - Jemelka studio entitled DREAMS OF POVERTY. The opening will take place in Wednesday, 25 September 2024 at 17:00 in Molitor Library in Olomouc. The exhibition will be The exhibition explores the potential of vague places, poverty and free thinking in relation to the city of Olomouc. Thematically, it focuses on the issues of affordable housing, recycling and strategies for meeting the needs of human life. At the same time, it deals with the issue of unused spaces and their possible occupation, thus challenging the notion that certain areas of cities are uninhabitable or unusable.

The project presents a thorough analysis of the city of Olomouc and its peripheries, where students encountered forms of unofficial life and the bare struggle for survival. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the association For Beautiful Olomouc and responds to to the more than topical problems of contemporary society that affect everyone in us. The theme of asylum, minimal housing and the transformation of vague places into usable spaces are enriched by the broader perspective of Architects Without Borders, who offer comprehensive architectural responses to current social challenges.

The exhibition is part of the SEFO Triennial (Central European Forum Olomouc), which also addresses issues of identity, poverty and social problems in contemporary Europe. The combination of these events provides visitors with a deeper insight into into current architectural and urban issues that reflect the challenges of of our time.
